              History of American Football

              Picture
American football's origin can be traced back to the mid-19th century, where it was first developed in the United Kingdom.  Football was an "evolved" version of rugby, and did not start out very popular.  The game was just a hobby at first, but its popularity grew as the years went by.  Football was just a hobby until the late 1800's and early 1900's when the game was introduced at the collegiate level.

The game became more and more famous until it was the dominant sport by the mid 1900's.  By then, the rules and the sport were changing.  New rules were added, which made the game tremendously challenging.

Though it was challenging, the athletes battled through the changes and helped make football what it is today.  Today, football is the most popular sport in the United States, and is widely viewed all around the world.
