              History of Soccer

              Picture
Hundreds of years ago, there were many types of soccer.  According to FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association), the earliest type of soccer was found as an excercise in an ancient military manual in BC China.

As the game migrated West, it eventually made its way into Europe.  The Europeans have been playing soccer since the eighth century.  However, the game did not gain any modernized rules until the early-mid 1800's.  England took the game very seriously, and organized many of the modern rules we follow today.  The game evolved into a brutal and entertaining pastime, and in 1930, the first ever World Cup was set up.  The World Cup is when a collection of countries play each other in a large tournament where the Champion becomes the best team in the World.

Over the years, soccer changed from a military excercise into the world's most popular sport.  Soccer remains to be one of the most widely played and widely watched games in the world.
